Associate Director of Development, Bourns College of Engineering

Position Information

Reporting directly to Asst. Dean of Development for UC Riverside's Bourns College of Engineering, the Associate Director uses professional skills and experience to plan and implement successful fundraising projects and programs in support of BCOE priorities for student support, including scholarships, fellowships, the annual Dean's Innovation Fund Match Challenge in support of student professional organizations, makerspaces, community outreach initiatives, special projects, student research experiences, etc. Works with student, alumni, and parent volunteers. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Has strong communication skills and professional ethics. The position is expected to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospective donors, increase the overall number of donors to the college, and solicit leadership annual gifts in support of college priorities. Please note: all university development officers sign three-year renewable contracts which include the same employee benefits afforded career employees.

The budgeted amount for this position is up to $90,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for hybrid accommodations.

Experience with Raiser's Edge or other constituent databases. Experience with exporting/importing data from or to different software applications; and operating knowledge of Internet for data gathering purposes. Preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in college or university admissions, alumni relations, career center, communication/marketing, development, student advising, or other related area Preferred
Minimum of 2-3 years of direct fundraising experience. Required
Experience working with volunteers Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Strong written and interpersonal communication skills to establish and maintain good working relationships throughout the organization and with outside constituencies.
Thorough working knowledge of the location, its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements and infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc.
Strong skills in maintaining confidentiality.
Strong organizational, analytical and critical thinking skills, including skills in creative and effective decision-making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough working knowledge of fundraising, donor relations, and public relations concepts, principles, procedures, and techniques.
