Position Information

The Pathway Programs at the University of California, Riverside School of Medicine is committed to diversifying the physician workforce and offers unique programs serving high school, community college, university and postbaccalaureate students. Pathway Programs is a team of professionals who are committed to achieving the Mission of the UCR School of Medicine through providing programs and services for students from educationally and socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds in Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

The Assistant Director of Pathway Programs designs, develops, and administers programs for community college and high school students aspiring to a career in medicine. In concert with the Pathway Programs Director and the Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the incumbent develops and sustains partnerships with community colleges and implements K to 14 activities to achieve unit objectives to attract and retain students from Inland Southern California who are educationally and/or socioeconomically disadvantaged. UCR SOM Pathway Programs are ten distinctive programs engaging students from K to 12, community college, university and postbaccalaureate studies. The incumbent is responsible for K to 14 programming and works in concert with program leadership to develop a seamless pathway between programs. The Assistant Director of Pathway Programs will actively contribute to achieving unit goals and objectives including objectives outlined in grants from Health Care Access and Information agency, Foundation for California Community Colleges, The California Wellness Foundation, and other private sponsors.

Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, if driving a university/personal vehicle for university related business. Required

Minimum Requirements

Demonstrated expertise building collaborations between academia, education, and community agencies.
Expert negotiation skills.
Expert knowledge of high school graduation and college entrance requirements.
Extensive knowledge of project management including program design, implementation, and evaluation.
Leadership experience in academic and/or K-14 education.
Extensive knowledge in state and national educational structures and policies, current educational theories, and successful educational equity programs.
Academic background and recognized expertise in academic development and educational partnerships.
Knowledge of the applicable federal and state regulations governing areas related to the responsibilities of the position including the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
