Position Information
The NAGPRA (Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act) Program Specialist reports to the NAGPRA Repatriation Coordinator who is the University employee assigned responsibility for facilitating the daily implementation of NAGPRA and CalNAGPRA, especially as amended by AB 275, and curatorial projects in compliance with the related regulations as supported by the UCR Chancellor’s Designee. The NAGPRA Program Specialist will assist the NAGPRA Repatriation Coordinator in the identification and documentation of human remains, returning objects, investigating, maintenance of database, communication and administrative duties to ensure compliance.
This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to complete trainings and comply with CANRA. Must pass FBI/Department of Justice background check.
The full salary range for the NAGPRA Program Specialist is $27.09 - $43.58 per hour. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.
As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is ten weeks after their first date of employment.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) legislation and compliance.
Knowledge of Radiocarbon Dating Methods and History in Archaeology
Ability to establish goals, workload priorities, and to follow through to successful completion.
Ability to work collaboratively and communicate in a clear, professional, and sensitive manner.
