Senior Financial Analyst

Position Information

Under the general direction of the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFAO) and Director of Budget and Operations for Student Affairs, this position is responsible for taking a lead role in providing executive level support of complex fiscal, budgetary, analytical, including contract and grants agency reporting for multiple departments. This position is expected to provide a high-level of administrative support to the organization. The analyst independently performs moderate to complex budgetary/financial analysis and reporting such as multi-year planning, rate sustainability and feasibility, advises on cost containment measures, performs reconciliations and develops/prepares reports on overall resource management. This includes research, monitoring trend and deficit analysis, tracking, generating monthly (inc. ad-hoc) executive level summaries, and reporting to various constituents (e.g., UCOP, department heads, organization head, and the campus budget office) of multiple core and non-core funding streams. This position is also responsible for managing and reviewing annual costing reports which includes funding for range adjustments and merits & promotions. Works in collaboration with and provides backup assistance to the Student Affairs finance team. Assists in preparing PowerPoint presentations and training material for the Student Affairs as well as acts as a resource for policy and process guidance to the Student Affairs departments.

The salary range for the Senior Financial Analyst is $87,300 - $163,300 annually. The expected pay scale for this position is up to $106,300 annually. We base placement within these ranges on the individual's qualifications as they relate to this position.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

Minimum Requirements

Ability to function as a member of a team.
Ability to present complex finance related information in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally.
Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices and systems.
Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; service orientation; advanced critical thinking; attention to detail; ability to multi-task in a high volume environment, effective organizational skills.
In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Ability to identify, collect and analyze information from a variety of sources.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge and understanding of UCR budget model and Oracle EPM, PPM and Google systems used to extract data in report preparation.
