Position Information

As a member of the Student Affairs central office, and under the general supervision of the Chief Finance and Administrative Officer (CFAO), you will provide complex administrative; human resource; and financial/budgetary support to our entire organization and approximately 1,500 career staff. This work includes coordinating all personnel actions regarding recruitment, classification, equity, and retention to ensure compliance with federal, state, and campus regulations. In addition, you will perform complex budget/resource analysis, including retrieving data from campus systems, organizing and validating data, and preparing reports. Another aspect to this position is to oversee contract and grant management for the Student Affairs organization.

The Vice Chancellor Student Affairs organization is a dynamic unit comprised of 41 unique departments that support the non-academic life our students such as enrollment services, student life, ethnic and gender student offices, campus health, wellness, and recreation, housing services, and dining services. Minimum Requirements

Graduation from college with a major in business administration, economics, statistics, educational administration, or a related field, and four years of experience in financial or administrative analysis; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Skill in evaluating and analyzing complex concepts for knowledge of past discrepancies, trends, and relationships, and applying the concepts appropriately.

Skill in preparing comprehensive and in-depth analysis of complex, and multi-faceted issues, particularly under tight time constraints.

Demonstrated superior communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate tact and diplomacy and also in identifying the correct issues to be communicated, the appropriate audience, the method of communication, and the timing of the communication. Along with excellent written communication skills.

Experience and knowledge of policy, regulations, and/or best practices surrounding human resource actions related to position's duties (i.e. recruitment,classification, equity).
Skill in creating spreadsheets and reports using Word, Access, Excel, or other software applications including skill in exporting/importing data from or to different software applications or data collection and retrieval.

Skill in working independently, setting priorities and following through on assignments with minimal direction and a fluctuating workload

Knowledge of the applicable federal and state regulations governing areas related to the responsibilities of the job.

Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.

Experience with applying policy and/or regulations and developing related internal controls.

Preferred Qualifications

Skill in making oral and written presentations through various media formats to colleagues providing information, instructions, or explaining subjects of interest.

Experience with a fund accounting financial system.

Demonstrated experience with UC online Payroll/Personnel System (PPS) and Time and Attendance Reporting System (TARS)

Experience in analyzing policy issues and other directives and forming solid recommendations.

Demonstrated experience with UCR's Financial System (UCRFS).
