Position Information
The UCR/California Museum of Photography is seeking a Curatorial Assistant who will work closely with the Curator of Exhibitions by assisting with all aspects of exhibition research, planning, installation, programming, media relations, and related administrative duties. In addition to assisting with the production of changing exhibitions and programs, the Assistant will coordinate special projects, such as a major exhibition and publication that will focus on the work of Latin American and Latino artists whose works resonate with science fiction themes.
Minimum Requirements
Education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Contemporary Art, Museum Studies, or similar degree.
Superior communication skills to effectively and professionally communicate using tact and diplomacy with internal and external campus community including international visitors.
Skill in making oral and written presentations through various media formats to colleagues or subordinates to provide information, instructions, or explain subjects of interest.
Skill to independently compose letters, memos, reports, and other written communication materials, for a variety of audiences, using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, composition, text editing, and proofreading.
Ability to work effectively in a strong service environment that is subject to constantly changing priorities.
Skill in accurate record keeping with strict attention to detail.
Skill in organizing tasks, documents and materials with efficiency and accuracy.
Skill in using the Internet and Internet search engines to gather data in support of research purposes as well as literature searches.
Excellent computer skills working in Word, Outlook, Excel and database entry.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of the applicable UC policies and procedures governing areas related to the responsibilities of the job.
Skills in graphic design and ability to work with multimedia files.
Ability to read, write, and speak the Spanish language.
