Position Information

UC Riverside is seeking leadership in the management of financial, personnel, student affairs, administrative and research support infrastructure operations for the Biochemistry, Nematology, Plant Pathology and Microbiology, and Statistics Departments and Interdepartmental Graduate Programs in Microbiology, Applied Statistics (PhD), Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Plant Pathology, Statistics (M.S.) Management and support services will also be provided for the Center for Conservation Biology and the Citrus Clonal Protection Program and their directors. The management functions are highly complex and diverse based on the following:

Permanent combined state budgets as of 7/1/13 - $6.2 million comprised of Instruction & Research, Organized Research and the Agricultural Experiment Station, and Cooperative Extension funds.

Combined expenditures during fiscal year 12/13 - $23.5 million total annual expenditures/ $12.8 million contract/grant expenditures from 378 discrete fund sources.

Total Employees on payroll as of 7/1/13: 397, this includes 53 Faculty positions.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field and demonstrated progressively responsible experience in finance and personnel administration in a management capacity.

Demonstrated skill in quantitative analysis, financial and statistical techniques and fiscal projections.

Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency with administrative and financial information systems and various software applications for financial accounting and data management.

Demonstrated progressively responsible management experience in strategic planning, policy development, forecasting, resource analysis, financial management and budgeting.

Proven ability to make independent decisions, analyze situations, solve problems, and initiate actions for the effective management of a large and complex unit.

Ability to function effectively as a member of a management team and to identify and resolve organizational problems.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, and the principles governing internal controls.

Demonstrated experience in human resource management, including recruiting and selection of staff, performance management, handling labor relations issues, and organizing operations.

Demonstrated ability to develop productive working relationships at all levels of management and high level negotiation skills.

Proven oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience with the management of academic personnel policies and processes in an institution of higher education.
