Position Information
The UCR School of Medicine (SOM) is seeking an experienced individual with an interest in helping learners at various levels to be academically successful. The Academic Enrichment Specialist will report to the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs and be primarily responsible for enhancing the education of pre-medical and medical students, and to assist these students and medical/surgical residents in preparation for the MCAT and United States Medical Licensing Examinations. S/he will be responsible for developing and implementing new and innovative programming for student/resident success and retention in addition to increasing the academic success of an increasingly diverse and disadvantaged student population in the medical school and SOM-supported pre-medical academic enrichment programs.
In collaboration with the Senior Associate Dean of Student Affairs, the Academic Enrichment Specialist will conduct research on current best practices for student pedagogy and for addressing the barriers and obstacles impeding academic success and obtaining medical licensure. S/he will also assist in actively seeking and submitting grant proposals to help fund new and existing pre-medical academic enrichment programs for the SOM.
