Senior Director of Budget & Finance

Position Information

Auxiliary Services is comprised of five (5) operations with a combined budget of over $120 million, over 300 career staff, and over 950 student staff, and 2.6 million in building square feet on 160 acres; housing services providing on-campus housing to about 7,000 students in three housing types; dining services providing dining to the entire campus in residential dining, retail dining, convenience stores, food trucks and vending. The 5 operations include: Auxiliary Administration; Campus Business Services (CBS); Early Childhood Services (ECS); Housing, Dining & Hospitality Services (HDHS); and Transportation Services. Auxiliary Administration centrally supports all departments within Auxiliary Services, providing central financial and administrative services through the Budget & Finance unit. This includes budget, finance, receivables, payables, cash office, policy compliance, audit response, student employment office, and administrative support for human resources and shared services. Under the general direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor (AVC) for Auxiliary Services, the Senior Director for Budget & Finance is the senior administrative and financial management professional for all of the units within Auxiliary Services, responsible for the overall supervision and management of fiscal control, financial reporting of the organization, strategic planning, goal setting, organizational and policy development and implementation, payroll management and business processes. The Sr. Director manages the Budget & Finance team, consisting of; business processing operations, financial analysis, revenue operations and compliance; and payroll and personnel services. The Sr. Director serves as an advisor to the AVC, and Department Directors in the areas of finance, strategic planning, and resource management. The incumbent serves as a key member of the AVC's senior management team; participating in vision setting, decision-making, issue management, and integrated problem resolution.

Education

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
MBA or other Advanced degree in related field. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
8 - 13 years of related experience. Required
Experience with higher education financial operations. Preferred
Previous supervisory/managerial experience. Preferred
Experience leading the budgeting and forecasting for a large organization. Required
Experience with financial oversight of complex, multi-unit, multi-funded streams Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively lead, motivate and influence others and to develop and maintain high standards of customer service.
Excellent project management skills, including the capability of managing capital projects.
Excellent skills to work collaboratively and act persuasively in sensitive situations; skills in conflict management techniques.
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; accounting and payroll.
Excellent ability to establish metrics for department and employee goals.
Very strong ability to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution.

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs.

Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and union workforce.
