Junior Hospitalist

Position Information

Under medical supervision, hospitalists supervise and/or perform professional work in primary care medicine involving the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of adult or pediatric patients at UCR Health and affiliate sites. Works collaboratively with other physician groups for patient care.

Employee will float to both UCR Health and affiliate sites located in Riverside, San Bernardino and/or in the Palm Desert. Currently, a part time staff appointment will be scheduled to work 12 hour shifts – 1 week (7 days) every 4 weeks.

Education

Education Requirements

Degree Requirement
Possession of the education and legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Board of Medical Quality Assurance. Required

Licenses

License Requirement
Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the California Medical Board. Required
Maintenance of California Medical License and Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) prescribing number. Required

Certifications

Certification Requirement
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Required
Eligible to sit for board certification in a relevant care specialty as determined by the American Board of Medical Specialists. Board certification required within 18 months of hire. Required

Experience

Experience Requirement
Experience in inpatient and outpatient settings. Preferred
Background and skills in clinical practice, clinical teaching, and managed care. Preferred
Must meet UC credentialing requirements. Required

Minimum Requirements

Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with staff and patients from diverse ethnic/racial backgrounds, educational levels, sexual orientations and identities.
Ability to stay abreast of new medical knowledge, and to maintain and increase expertise and skills as relevant to clinical practice.
Ability to work independently under general direction and to work collaboratively with others.

Preferred Qualifications

Computer proficiency and first-hand experience in using electronic health records systems to document patient interactions and coordinate care.
