Position Information
Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Operations, the Communications & Events Manager manages all aspects of communications and events sponsored by UCRâs Center for Environmental Research and Technology (CE-CERT). This includes operational support, managing communication channels, serving as the unit's event manager, cultivating key relationships with internal and external partners, and the application of UC and UCR rules and regulations.
The Bourns College of Engineering, Center for Environmental Research & Technology (CE-CERT)'s mission is to be a recognized leader in environmental education, a collaborator with industry and government to improve the technical basis for regulations and policy, a creative source of new technology, and a contributor to a better understanding of the environment. Established in 1992 and now operating as the largest research center at the University of California at Riverside, CE-CERT brings together multiple disciplines throughout campus to address society's most pressing environmental challenges in air quality, climate change, energy, and transportation. CE-CERT activities encompass all three aspects of the University of California's overarching mission: research, education, and public service. The salary range for this position starts at $64,400 up to $72,000.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge and skills to advise and consult with management to ensure delivery of the desired message to the target and/or broad general audiences.
Knowledge and understanding of technical applications to effectively direct technical staff, or personally perform technical work, including design concepts, various media, and applications.
Solid written, verbal, interpersonal communications, active listening and political acumen skills.
Knowledge of all aspects of communications, including strategic planning for various media venues, technical aspects and requirements of various venues, and most appropriate and effective applications.
Knowledge of location protocols and channels for communication internally and externally.
Solid skills to create, develop, and implement comprehensive long and short term strategic communications plans.
Experience in the planning and execution of large and small events in support of research or higher education.
