Position Information

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Public Education Specialist 3 serves as the Director of the UCR OSHER Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and Community Education programs, managing and overseeing all aspects of the program in all locations. Provides accessible, high quality continuing education through innovative and entrepreneurial approaches for the OLLI Program and other community programs. Directs the UCR OLLI for adults over the age of 50 by providing non-credit, nonacademic lectures for adult learners. Develops and nurtures good, long term working relationships with the business and nonprofit community, University faculty and staff, and guest lecturers. This position will oversee performance and support of guest lectures, create curricula/lecture plans, schedule lectures quarterly, establish program budgets and control expenses, develop marketing plans and write promotional marketing press releases, and recruit new guest lecturers and evaluate new programs. Works with the Executive Director to develop, implement and evaluate community engagement programs. **As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. Thorough knowledge of and skill in delivering programs.
Thorough skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations/courses to meet organizational needs.
Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Thorough knowledge of current public educational programs and trends.
Thorough and effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.
Knowledge of managing a portfolio of business and management courses at the university or corporate level.
Thorough knowledge of functional area and understanding of how work may impact other areas.
Skill in using business software systems in the completion of work assignments; i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of organization policies and procedures.
