Position Information
Reporting to the Director of Academic Affairs, this position will provide daily management of the academic personnel actions in the School of Medicine consisting of a highly complex complement of ladder rank, other senate, clinical and non-senate academic faculty and other academic appointees. This position is part of the academic affairs unit which is responsible for all academic personnel-related activities within the School of Medicine, including, but not limited to, faculty recruitment, appointment, merit and promotion reviews and implementation of the Health Sciences Compensation Plan.

Minimum Requirements
Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of organization and college goals, priorities and values and the legal and human implications of decisions.
Advanced writing skills to compose clear, concise and grammatically correct correspondence, minutes and reports. Proofreading skills to edit typewritten materials for proper spelling, grammar, punctuation and syntax.
Skill in organizing and maintaining effective recordkeeping systems of various levels of volume and complexity.
Thorough knowledge of systemwide and organization policies, union contracts, procedures and practices that govern academic HR administration.
Oral communication skills to communicate effectively with persons at all levels of the organization and using appropriate vocabulary to obtain and convey information, explain policies and procedures, or to persuade others to accept or adopt a specific opinion or action.
Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal direction.
Working knowledge of academic personnel dossier preparation.
Demonstrated skill in operating a personal computer utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, email, internet software and for data entry purposes. Proven proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point.
Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with academic administrators, faculty, staff, co-workers and students, and to interact with individuals from the community at large.
Excellent critical and innovative thinking to address moderately complex issues and present nuanced analyses.
Requires thorough knowledge of and ability to apply/interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.
Knowledge of trends in academia, especially in areas of academic planning, human resource management and administration.
Ability to analyze complex management issues, develop project scope and solutions, give professional advice to senior officials and make critical decisions regarding personnel.
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
