Position Information

The Student Life and Events Coordinator will serve as the event subject matter expert for all Student Affairs and Student Interest Group (SIG) related activities and student community service. They will provide advisement, guidance, encouragement, training, and support to student government leaders. The successful candidate will be highly collaborative, a self-starter, and committed to student development and support.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Occasional travel for university related business meetings, conferences and/or professional development. Required
Ability to work outside of normal business hours as needed (evenings and/or weekends). Required

Minimum Requirements

Thorough knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
Abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
Ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
Thorough knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Ability to work in diverse groups, including but not limited to students, staff, faculty and the general public.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs and knowledge of University and departmental principles and procedures involved in risk assessment and evaluating risks as to likelihood and consequences.

Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning/coordination.

Familiarity with UC/UCR policies and procedures.
