Position Information

Come and join our team of overachievers, serving a dynamic, and diverse client base. Serving as a member of the Financial and Administrative Services Team (FAST) leadership, the HR Business Partner provides a full range of human resource functions associated with the multiple departments within the FAST portfolio of Enrollment Services, Internationals Affairs, Undergraduate Education, and University Honors. This position reports to the Chief Financial & Administrative Officer (CFAO) and is responsible for a variety of human resources duties in support of organizational management. Responsible for complex human resources and administrative processes in support of career, limited, contract, academic, students, and volunteers. Responsible for recommending, implementing, administering, coordinating, and evaluating HR policies, programs, and procedures including the following: recruitment, compensation and classification, employee and labor relations, benefits, leave administration, training, and development. Collaborates and coordinates with Central Human Resources, Shared Services Centers, and other centralized university units in the delivery of HR services. Education Requirements

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Advanced degree in related area. Preferred


Certification Requirement
Professional (PHR) or Senior Professional (SPHR) in Human Resources Preferred
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) - Certified Professional (CP) or Senior Certified Professional (SCP) Preferred
California Public Employers Labor Relations Association (CALPELRA) Labor Relations Academy Masters Certification (CLRM) Preferred


Experience Requirement
6 - 10 years of related experience. Required
Experience administering performance management programs. Required
Experience developing job descriptions. Required
Experience implementing HR programs in a unionized environment. Preferred
Experience administering HR programs in a university setting. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Ability to extract data from systems and the ability to analyze, validate and prepare consolidated reports using tools such as pivot tables and formulas within Microsoft Excel.
Advanced interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to present complex information.
Strong analytical, active listening, and critical thinking skills.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of organizational policies and procedures; advanced knowledge of functional area and understands how work affects other areas in Human Resources and the organization.

Possesses advanced analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem-solving skills.
Skilled in communicating clearly and effectively verbally and in writing.
Advanced knowledge of human resources concepts, policies and procedures including employment practices, labor relations, salary administration, training and other areas of human resources as well as organizational initiatives relating to and/or affecting human resources.
Demonstrated ability to handle extremely difficult or volatile situations/individuals effectively. Demonstrated active listening and critical thinking skills.
Ability to organize work, establish priorities and meet deadlines.
In-depth knowledge of a human resources management system (HRMS), and/or other related business software programs and systems.
