Position Information

Under the general direction of the Latino and Latin American Studies and Research Center, the Coordinator oversees the administration and implementation of a multifaceted program grant, along with the day-to-day operations of the Center. The Center serves as an interdisciplinary research center based in the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, UC Riverside. This high profile position has both external and internal-facing leadership responsibilities. This person will be experienced and culturally competent in working with Latinx communities, and will serve as a liaison between the Center and representatives of nearby communities, throughout California, Latin American consulates and partners in Latin America. The successful candidate must possess the ability to effectively represent and advocate on behalf of UCR Latin American Studies and affiliated faculty. The Coordinator will also liaise with the campus Chicano Student Programs, Black Student Programs, and Native American Student Program and with academic units to engage with and respond to the needs and interests of the Latinx undergraduate and graduate student communities. This position has a tentative end date after 2 years. However, it may be extended depending on the receipt of additional funding and workload needs.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Master's Degree in Mexican American /Chicano Studies, Ethnic Studies, Latin American Studies, Higher Education Administration, Public Administration or a related field. Preferred

Minimum Requirements

Interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, persuasiveness, advising and counseling skills.
Bilingual and have competency in writing, reading, and speaking both English and Spanish. Ability to translate and interpret documents and during events.
Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques, and/or human resources policies and procedures for staff and academic employees.
Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
Strong skills in short term planning, analysis and problem-solving and customer service.
Knowledge of a variety of administrative operations activities such as events planning, basic fundraising processes, risk management planning, website design, accounting and payroll, and contracts and grants regulations and guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

Thorough knowledge of University rules and regulations, processes, protocols and procedures for budget, accounting and fund management, and/or personnel management.

Solid knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs. Advanced knowledge of common University-specific computer application programs.
