Position Information

Under the general direction of the Director of Research Services, the incumbent in this position performs daily administration of Research Services unit operations, including the reference service; provides workshop coordination; and supports Research Services projects and spaces, performs work independently and uses paraprofessional and advanced operational and technical skills involving a general knowledge of library practices and procedures; assists in directing student assistants in maintaining an efficient workflow in the reference area.

This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter and will be required to complete trainings and comply with CANRA. Must pass FBI/Department of Justice background check.

The budgeted hiring range for this position is $26.29-$30.86 (Step 3- Step 10). As a condition of employment, you will be required to comply with the University of California SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Vaccination Program Policy. All Covered Individuals under the policy must provide proof of Full Vaccination or, if applicable, submit a request for Exception (based on Medical Exemption, Disability, and/or Religious Objection) or Deferral (based on pregnancy) no later than the applicable deadline. For new University of California employees, the applicable deadline is eight weeks after their first date of employment.

Knowledge of and ability to use Windows, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, email and web-browsers.
In depth knowledge of library operations, including knowledge of applicable circulation, public service and acquisitions modules on the online public acquisitions and cataloging system.
Maintain a courteous and helpful attitude to patrons at all times.
Ability to learn to use internal library computer applications.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of library and campus emergency procedures.

Ability to train and review work of student assistants.
