Position Information

The School of Medicine (SOM) Senior Data Analyst will utilize skills as a seasoned professional to establish high impact analytical reports/dashboards primarily relating to financial, administrative, and operational needs throughout the SOM enterprise. Specifically, the incumbent will serve an expert in the usage of business intelligence (BI) solutions and will collaborate with SOM units, IT, other analysts, end users, data owners, and BI and data management professionals to develop, maintain, and distribute reports to address the needs of the various units from a varied set of data types and sources. The incumbent will need to understand and interpret the general ledger and reconcile reports to identify issues as encountered. The budgeted salary for this position is up to $91,900.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Master's degree in related area. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Five (5) years of experience designing, developing, testing and implementing secure, scalable and high-performance BI and analytic solutions; at least 3 years of experience as a BI Developer on PowerBI, Tableau, or similar solution platform. Required
Proficient in developing technical specifications, presentations, training materials, user documentation, and technical documentation. Demonstrated success with overseeing software development lifecycle for enterprise-wide BI projects Required
Experience with dimensional data modeling and relational databases. Required
Experience with SQL and ETL Preferred
BI and analytics in the Healthcare, Education, and Research. Preferred
Financial reporting experience. Experience working on complex reports relating to budgeting, fund accounting, and human resource information. Ability to actively reconcile reports to identify issues. Preferred

Special Conditions

Travel to and from Campus/Intellicenter and between SOM sites Required
Must possess or obtain a Valid CA Driver License in accordance with the California Department of Motor Vehicles, if driving a university/personal vehicle for university related business. Required

Minimum Requirements

Proven ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues.
Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.
Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices.
Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a broad range of professional and technical staff.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.
Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to train staff at a variety of technical skill levels. Experience in developing technical staff.

Understanding of general finance and fund accounting to be able to study and learn the general ledger.
