Director, Clinical Strategy and Business Development

Position Information

Recognized resource with expertise in multiple areas including strategy, affiliations and partnerships, community physician outreach, and community benefit. Responsible for leading and managing major goals/implementation plans to support strategic objectives and large-scale, complex projects that are of critical importance to the organization and have substantial consequences of success or failure. Works in conjunction with senior leadership to recommend and execute strategies that leverage academic and clinical programs, contribute to clinical growth, increase patient volume, minimize risk, and maximize return on investment. Contributes to long-term strategy for business development, network development, and affiliation activities. Applies advanced knowledge of strategy affiliations and partnerships to formulate and facilitate strategic growth projects and initiatives. Problem-solving unique issues, often without precedent, and functions with a high degree of autonomy. Serves as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders. Activities include, but are not limited to, planning for strategic clinical growth. The position will closely with the CEO, consultants, and finance, to identify joint business opportunities to increase customer value and drive revenue growth. Involves identifying, building, and nurturing strong, lasting relationships with new and existing clients that fully leverage UCR Health capabilities and lead to growth opportunities. Will also implement the strategic and business development efforts at affiliated hospitals/health systems to generate new business increase customer value and drive revenue growth.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training Required
Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or a closely related field. Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
8 - 13 years of related experience. Required
The minimum of eight (8) years of experience must be in healthcare setting (provider segments; strategic and business planning; market assessment, basic finance/budget principles). Required
Familiarity with UCR (institution, individuals, culture), the inland empire region and with California's health care environment Preferred
Experience in academic healthcare setting, both inpatient and outpatient. Preferred
Experience managing strategic initiatives across multiple missions and in concert with institutional partners. Preferred
A combination of provider-based experience and consulting experience. Preferred

Special Conditions

Special Condition Requirement
Occasional travel for university related business meetings, conferences and/or professional development. Required

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office software and database applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).
Knowledge and ability to serve as an expert and educational resource on healthcare strategy issues.
Highly developed knowledge in healthcare planning, business development and joint venture design.
Expert ability to achieve measurable results in a diverse stakeholder landscape balancing competing and conflicting interests.
Expert knowledge of the principles, concepts, and strategies involved in successful strategic growth and business development.
Expert ability to develop comprehensive reports and presentations.
Highly developed leadership skills to guide, influence and motivate others.
Expert critical-thinking and analytical, skills to assess complex issues, sensitive situations and develop solutions.
Ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders across UC and outside organizations

Preferred Qualifications

Strong ability to direct, influence and motivate project team members, clinicians and senior leaders. Proven ability to plan and direct cross-functional project teams.
