Position Information

The Well is UC Riverside's health promotion department focused on holistic well-being, housed within the Health, Well-being, and Safety Organization. The Student Health Services Promotion Specialist will perform highly skilled and complex work, planning, implementing, and evaluating evidence-based health promotion strategies, and advocating for well-being policies/practices in their topic areas, programs, and services for the University of California Riverside students. Topic areas related to this position include, but are not limited to: sexual health and reproductive justice, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs (ATOD), and other emerging wellness priorities and initiatives. The Student Health Services Health Promotion Specialist will serve as a liaison for The Well and Student Health Services by leading interdepartmental, collaborative programming, outreach, and assessment efforts, and manage a peer health education program and policy/public health intern, supervising both paid and volunteer students. The Student Health Services Health Promotion Specialist will be responsible for Student Health Services' social media, marketing, and website presence on campus. The successful applicant will demonstrate a high level of understanding of college health, and demonstrate their knowledge of connecting with students who identify as historically underrepresented BIPOC students, African Diaspora, API, Latinx, international, first-generation, undocumented, veterans, students with disabilities, and LGBTQI+ communities as examples and working from a healthy equity/JEDI lens.

The full salary range for the Student Health Services Health Promotion Specialist is $64,300 - $114,300 annually. However, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $73,000 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.

Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff.

As a university employee, you will be required to comply with all applicable University policies and/or collective bargaining agreements, as may be amended from time to time. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Education

Education Requirements

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Master's Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion or related field Preferred

Certifications

Certification Requirement
Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) or related certificate Preferred

Experience

Experience Requirement
Experience with marketing health-related programs and campaigns Preferred
Experience with health education/promotion in a university setting Preferred
Experience advising, supervising, and/or leading college student staff, peer programs, or student organizations Preferred
4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Experience with data collection and analysis Required

Minimum Requirements

Thorough knowledge of the design and delivery of related programs.
Effective organizational skills.
Content expertise in at least one of the following priority subject areas: sexual health, reproductive justice, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Skills associated with both the development and delivery of health education programs and services.
Thorough knowledge of the health promotion and education field.
Effective interpersonal skills to interact effectively with diverse client groups.
Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs.
